Gonzales

With a floor space of over 134,000 square meters, the Gonzales (Texas) site is the largest BYK production facility. The plant was founded in the early 1950s and has been part of the BYK family since 2013.

The highly skilled workforce of around 170 employees focuses on creating value for customers by providing over 70 different clay-based additives (CBAs) that impart thickening, gelling and other rheological properties to formulations. The site provides global solutions in select markets such as paints and coatings, plastics, printing inks, feed additives and energy, to name a few. CBAs can also add other value in applications - such as improving mechanical properties, flame retardancy and barrier properties. The research and development group, housed in the new R&D building, develops and supports innovative and differentiated solutions in the CBA business.

Health and safety always have top priority at BYK. All operations comply to ISO standards (9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001) as well as meeting the corporate safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainability goals established by the ALTANA organization.
