Our new BYK tank farm in Kempen has now reached its first milestone: the shell is complete, and the topping-out wreath is in place. Managing Director Matthias Kramer had a positive message at the topping-out ceremony: "BYK is committed to the Kempen site, and it's great to see how the team is progressing, naturally at the highest level of technology and safety!"
In Kempen, two horizontal and 16 vertical tanks are being built, with formwork erected and multiple layers of concrete poured. Three of these tanks are reserve tanks. The design and construction are not only based on modern technical knowledge, but also on sustainability. A large heat pump provides heating and ventilation, the building is insulated according to the latest energy standards, and the firefighting foam is PFAS-free. The foundation for the firefighting water tank, which has a volume of around 400 cubic meters, has already been laid.
Assuming all continues to go according to plan, the new TLO – the correct term for an above-ground tank farm – could be completed by the end of 2026.
